Community Guidelines
RedString exists to help people connect over shared interests. These Community Guidelines explain what we expect from everyone who uses RedString, so that the community stays respectful and safe. They apply to your profile, your photos, and every message and date proposal you send.
What's not allowed
Harassment and bullying. Don't repeatedly contact someone who has asked you to stop, target someone with insults or unwanted attention, or otherwise make another user feel unsafe.
Threats and violence. Don't threaten another person, celebrate or encourage violence, or share content that incites harm against any person or group.
Hate and discrimination. Don't attack or demean anyone based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or any other protected characteristic.
Sexual exploitation and non-consensual content. Don't share sexual content involving a person who hasn't consented to its creation or distribution, and don't use RedString to solicit, arrange, or facilitate sexual exploitation of any person.
Anything involving a minor. Content or behavior involving child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, or any sexualization of a minor, is never allowed under any circumstances. See our Child Safety Standards for how we handle this.
Impersonation. Don't pretend to be someone else, misrepresent your identity or age, or create a fake or duplicate account.
Scams and fraud. Don't use RedString to solicit money, gifts, cryptocurrency, or financial or account information from other users.
Spam. Don't send unsolicited advertising, promote unrelated products or services, or automate interactions with other users or the app.
Illegal activity. Don't use RedString to plan, promote, or carry out any activity that is illegal where you or the other person is located.
Sharing someone else's private information. Don't post or send another person's private information without their permission.
Report and block
If you see or experience anything that violates these guidelines, you can:
- Report the user or the specific message, from the profile, chat, or likes screen you're on
- Block the user, so you no longer see them and they can no longer contact you
Reporting doesn't automatically notify the other person, and you can block someone whether or not you also report them.
What happens after a report
Reports are reviewed by RedString. Depending on what we find, we may:
- Remove the specific content
- Warn or restrict the account
- Suspend or permanently delete the account
- Take further action where required by law, including in the case of CSAE/CSAM (see our Child Safety Standards)
Changes to these guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to notify you and update the effective date and version number above.
